Hummingbirds and Northern Orioles love the sweet, plentiful homemade nectar. If you want to attract them, keep your hummingbird and oriole feeders filled with this nectar.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Ingredients Needed: water and sugar

  2. Step 2

Bring the water to a boil in the microwave. The time will vary depending on the amount of water used. The water should be hot enough to dissolve the sugar. Remove water from the microwave and stir in the sugar. Reheat for 2-3 minutes on high in the microwave.

  3. Step 3

Let the mixture cool. Cover and refrigerate. Discard any unused nectar after 5-7 days.

  4. Step 4

Keep the nectar in the feeders no more than 3 days. Wash out the feeder before refilling with fresh nectar. Sanitize the feeder with chlorine bleach and water.
