Things You'll Need:
- Ripe dragon fruit
- a sharp knife
- an ice cream scoop
-
Step 1
Dragon fruit are most often found in Asian food markets throughout the year. The first step is to choose a fruit that is fragrant and has a sweet, fresh smell. After trying a few dragon fruit, you will begin to get the hang of the smell and feel of a perfect dragon fruit. The best place to look is the very base of the fruit where the dragon fruit had been cut. Smell the base and feel for a firm fruit.
-
Step 2
Next, carefully cut the dragon fruit in half. Take your knife and then carefully peel away the outer skin of the dragon fruit. A quick way to do this is to place the flat half on the cutting board and cut away the outer skin. If you have an ice cream scoop handy, you may be able to scoop the dragon fruit out of the skin.
-
Step 3
Once you have the fruit out, you can slice the fruit and place it in a blender with a bit of pineapple or orange juice or by itself with some ice cubes to make a sweet and refreshing fruit drink.
-
Step 4
You can also take the dragon fruit and toss some slices in a salad to sweeten it up and give an exotic twist.
-
Step 5
You can puree the dragon fruit and make a dragon fruit sorbet.
-
Step 6
Or you can eat dragon fruit in the best way, slices of delicious dragon fruits bursting with flavor.
