Make Delicious Banana Whole Wheat Waffles

These delicious waffles are high in dietary fiber and low in calories, cholesterol and fat.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup buck wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup ground flax seed
  • 1/8 cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • 1 banana (mashed)
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • cooking spray
  • waffle iron
  1. Step 1

    Set up waffle iron according to manufacturers instructions and begin to preheat.

  2. Step 2

    In a large mixing bowl combine whole wheat flour, buck wheat flour, flax seed, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and baking powder.

  3. Step 3

    In a small bowl combine milk, eggs and applesauce. Whisk until mixture is fully blended.

  4. Step 4

    Add egg mixture to the dry ingredients. Whisk ingredients until mixture well combined and fairly smooth.

  5. Step 5

    In a small bowl, mash 1 or 2 large bananas with a fork. Add to waffle batter and fold bananas until they are evenly incorporated.

  6. Step 6

    Spray waffle iron with cooking spray. Using a ladle, pour approximately 1/4 cup of batter in each square of the waffle iron and close. Cook 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. Step 7

    Serve waffles hot with a few fresh sliced bananas on top and a sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar or a drizzle of pumkin butter.

Tips & Warnings
  • Waffles can be frozen and toasted later.
