How to Make a Baby Wishing Well
Creating a baby wishing well for a baby shower is a great way for family and friends to write notes to the baby and parents. Guests can write either a life lesson to share with the baby, a note of encouragement, or simply a wish for the baby's life--such as that "your life be filled with happiness." The parents can then keep the notes to share with the baby when she is older by making a small book with all of the wishes collected. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Medium-sized basket or box with a lid
- 1 roll of ribbon (approximately 2 inches thick), baby-themed design or pink/blue
- Double-sided tape
- Enough 3x5 index cards for the number of guests
- Pens
- Small photo book (3x5 size, with enough slots for each guest)

1
Find a medium-sized basket or box with a lid in good shape. If using a box, you can wrap it with baby-themed wrapping paper. If wrapping, be sure to wrap the lid and box separately so it can be opened. Or, if using a box, you can cut a hole large enough to fit the index cards at the top so they can be dropped in by the guests.

Next, take the thick ribbon and tie it around the top area of the basket or box, just below the lid area. Tie a bow in the center, and use the double-sided tape to keep the ribbon in place all the way around.

Pass out index cards and pens to all of your guests at the beginning of the party, and ask your guests to fill out their "Wish Cards" for the baby throughout the party. This will give them ample time to fill them out before the party ends, and place them in the basket or box.

After your guests have filled out all of their wishes and the party has ended, you can put them in a small photo book. Each index card will fit in the photo slot of the book, and you will be able to easily go through and read each wish with your baby when he is older. This is a great way to keep them in a safe place, and protected over time.

If guests are unable to attend, you can mail them an index card to fill out and have them mail it back. This way, people who cannot attend can still participate in the wishing well.

Tips & Warnings
If using a box, be sure to wrap the box with wrapping paper or tissue paper that either match your baby shower theme, or are boy-girl themed. You may also want to create a small sign, or buy small sticker letters (purchased from any craft store) to spell out "Wishing Well" on the box so guests can easily find it. Be sure to buy enough index cards for each of the guests, and be sure to buy a photo book with enough slots to fit the amount of index cards you will be collecting from the guests. If you cannot find one big enough for all of the index cards, you may need to buy more than one photo book.
