Instructions

  1. Make A Fan To Look Like Fan Palm Leaves

    • 1

Make a paper fan by taking a sheet of green construction paper and folding 1-inch of the paper facing upward. Create another 1-inch fold directly on top of the first, folding downward. Continue making 1-inch folds upward and downward until the fan is completed, securing the end with a staple.

    • 2

Study the photograph of fan palm leaves to see how each "finger" of the palm branch is pointed. Cut an arrow shape at the top of the folded fan, and open it back up.

    • 3

Tape the fan to a wood stick so it can be waved around, or displayed to look like real fan palm leaves on a branch.

    • 4

Fold a sheet of 8 1/2 by 11-inch card stock in half to make a card. Create the fan palm leaves to decorate the front of the cards by tracing around a hand on a sheet of green construction paper four times. Cut out the hand tracings, and use the scissors to make pointy ends as found on the fan palm leaves.

    • 5

Glue a brown pipe cleaner on the front of the card to represent the palm tree trunk. Paste the cut-out hand tracings around the top of the pipe cleaner trunk to represent the fan palm leaves.

    • 6

Allow glue to dry before writing a message on the card.

Make A Fan Palm Tree Model With A Paper Towel Roll

    • 7

Use colored pencils to grass on a sheet of card board to create a Southern California park scene.

    • 8

Trace around a hand on a sheet of green construction to make four hand tracings. Cut out the hand tracings, and use the scissors to make pointy ends as found on the fan palm leaves. Staple the cut-outs around the top of the empty paper towel roll.

    • 9

Cut small tabs on the bottom of a paper towel roll, placing these 1/2-inch apart around the circumference. Push the tabs outward and glue these to the sheet of decorated cardboard. Allow the paper palm tree model to dry completely.
