Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

You will need to gather one cup of milk and 1 and 3/4 tablespoons of cream of tartar or lemon juice. You will need a pitcher with a lid to store the milk. You will add in the milk and then the cream of tartar or lemon juice. You can use what you have on hand.

  2. Step 2

If you wish to make more you can just multiply the ingredients to the amount you desire to make. You will then add to the pitcher and stir you will need to allow this mixture to sit out for 15 to 20 minutes. Then you will need to stir once the milk has began to curdle.

  3. Step 3

You will then place the pitcher and refrigerate until it is chilled. You can then use this for the baking or cooking. Then you can refrigerate all the remaining buttermilk for two days. The cream of tartar or the lemon juice add the acid to the milk to aid in the process of making ordinary milk turn into buttermilk.
