Celiac Disease can be very dangerous if you don't stick with the gluten free diet. Those who suffer from Celiac Disease are allergic to gluten which means you can't cook for them with gluten or by gluten. Here are some tips on how to cook for a someone with Celiac Disease.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Gluten free cookbook
  • Gluten free products
  1. Step 1

Remember they can only eat Gluten Free products. Even crumbs with gluten can make them sick. Make sure the pan you use has been cleansed very well. Never use YOUR toaster or toaster oven. If you have placed regular bread or products with gluten in there the crumbs will make them sick. (I learned this the hard way)

  2. Step 2

Go to a gluten free store. Buy a cookbook and buy everything you need there in the store. Why? Things you wouldn't think about checking probably have gluten in them, For example:
    Beer
    Syrup
    Food additives
    Herbs
    Make up
    Toothpaste
All of these products can have gluten in them. Double check EVERYTHING.

  3. Step 3

Remember to check all the labels. If you are not sure then look it up or call and ask them. Anything from oils, nuts, salad dressing, cake frosting etc, most likely has gluten so always try to get items that say gluten free or check the label. The following things should be checked:
Ice cream, Cookies, Crackers, Cake, Ketchup, Mustard, Instant coffee, Candy,
Yogurt, Pasta, Meats, Broth, Soup, Herbs and vitamins.

Always check labels and avoid products with any of the following ingredients:
Rye, Bran, Oats, White flour, Enriched flour, Durum flour, Semolina, Wheat. There are more so please buy a book or go to a doctor to ask about what also needs to be looked for.

REMEMBER---- Wheat free DOES NOT mean gluten free. There are other items besides wheat that need to be avoided.

  4. Step 4

Take your gluten free products home (Don't for get your dessert)and start cooking.

    Have fun!
