How to Reset Your Modem and Router to TroubleShoot Internet Outage

How to troubleshoot your internet connect when your Internet provider states that they are up.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    If you are sure that your cable company is not having a outage and that all your cable are connected correctly. Then follow the below steps to reset your modem and/or router.

  2. Step 2

    Remove the power from your modem and/or router. Also turn your computer off

  3. Step 3

    After 30 seconds to a minute plug in the power to the modem.

  4. Step 4

    Wait for all lights to stop blinking and the ready/Ethernet light is solid.

  5. Step 5

    If you only have a modem skip to step 6. Plug power into the router wait for all light to stop blinking and Ethernet/ready light to be solid.

  6. Step 6

    After Modem and/or Router have been powered back on turn the computer on and check for connectivity. If still unable to connect call your Service Provider or follow the direction in the following article to further trouble shoot the issue.
