Things You'll Need:
- A really big cavity
- A GOOD dentist
-
Step 1
Make sure you have a good dentist. Knowing you have a good dentist can alleviate a lot of fears.
-
Step 2
Make sure you get the painkillers. I got 5 shots in my mouth for my root canal. The first two hurt, and I didn't feel the others. Feel your mouth. Be sure you're numb. Speak to your dentist and work out a sign that you can give if you feel uncomfortable. The numbing won't wear off, but having a signal for 'just in case' it does can calm you down a lot.
-
Step 3
Relax. Try to fall asleep. Listen to the dentist explain what he's doing, or ask them to play some music in the background to focus on. It'll be over soon. Mine was done in 45 minutes, and 15 of those was preparing and getting the painkillers.
-
Step 4
Now get ready for the permanent filling. Take some time to marvel over your non-painful tooth. And don't worry; the filling is much like the root canal, except that you can feel the vibrations of the drill (but no pain).
