So you just wrote your eBook... congratulations!

I know how difficult a task that was — at least at times it was fun, wasn’t it?

Now that you put long hours into research, writing, editing, composing and compiling your eBook… now that you found your target market and have decided on how to offer it for sale… now that you have budgeted your advertising and fine-tuned your website copy… how do you protect your eBook from theft?

And if someone purchases your eBook and for any reason requests a refund… is there any way to stop them from reading it?

Your are not alone with these concerns. While the vast majority of readers are honest citizens of the world -- there is always the chance that someone may take advantage of your hard work and steal the profits… so to speak.

What’s an author to do?

There are many schools of thought:

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Give away the eBook. Use the eBook as a free tool that offers links to your other services or products.

  2. Step 2

Give away the eBook by offering links to other resources that pay you a fee, such as an affiliate commission, for the referral.

  3. Step 3

Give away the eBook by receiving advertising income for ads within the eBook as related to its niche topic.

  4. Step 4

Use a service, like Trial Pay, that provides a system where your eBook is given to the customer in exchange for their sending flowers from FTD, buying clothes from the Gap, subscribing to Netflix or choosing from thousands of other offers.

  5. Step 5

Sell your eBook with the ability to lock and secure its access by using eBook Pro. If the reader asks for a refund — simply “deactivate” the eBook's access to that user and it becomes unavailable to that reader. The eBook Pro also stops readers from copying images, graphics or text within the eBook; even if they try to PrintScreen (PrtSc).

  6. Step 6

Sell and secure your eBook using Virtual Vault, which offers you many strategies, including setting up disallows for multiple users to one access code and revoking access from refunded customers so they can’t continue using your product.

Tips & Warnings

  • eBook Pro and Virtual Vault also offer a way to offer your eBook for a free trial or limited time period.
  • Protect your eBook from day one, especially if it has great monetary value, with eBook Pro or Virtual Vault.
