In addition to the personal profile pages in Facebook, which are available only to individuals, Facebook offers Pages -- formerly called fan pages -- to businesses, causes, celebrities, artists and brands. Anyone who has a personal Facebook account can create and manage a Page. Non-Facebook users can search for and view a Page in the Internet, although to interact with the Page, viewers must join Facebook.

      Log in to your Facebook account and go to Facebook's "Create a Page."

      Click on the category that most closely reflects your Page. Choices are: Local Business or Place; Artist, Bank or Public Figure; Company, Organization or Institution; Entertainment; Brand or Product; and Cause or Community.

      Select the category and subcategory, if applicable, that best describe your product or service from the drop-down menu.

      Enter a name for your Page.

      Check the "I am authorized..." box and type your name as you gave it to Facebook when you opened your personal account in the electronic signature box.

      Read and agree to "Facebook Pages Terms."

      Click the "Get Started" button.

      Add elements to the new Page, just as you would to your personal profile. Upload photos, videos or status messages. Announce the Page creation to your Facebook friends or your email contacts list. Soon you'll have an active Facebook Page.

Tips & Warnings

  • Only official representatives of an business, celebrity, organization, cause, brand, artist or band can create a Page.
