Planning your own wedding can be a lot of fun as long as make sure you stay organized and on top of things.

Here are some things you can do to help make planning your own wedding go as smoothly as possible.

      Buy a Special Calendar

The first thing you should do after getting engaged is to buy yourself a special calendar that is dedicated solely to your upcoming nuptials. While it might be easy to keep track of things at the beginning, appointments will start crossing each other as the wedding draws closer and it is important that you have a place to write down every appointment the moment that you make it.

Carry a Small Notepad Around with You Everywhere.

It would also be a good idea to have a small notebook on your person at all times so you can jot down important dates, phone numbers, price estimations and any recommendations that other people may give you right on the spot to be transferred later. You will be surprised at how often you forget something that you swear will be easy to remember.

Start a Wedding Folder or Wedding Binder

A larger Wedding Binder at home is the perfect way to keep everything together so you have everything in one place. Divide your binder into categories such as Bridal Clothes (this would include you and your bridesmaids gowns, fiancé and groomsmen tuxedos), Catering Hall (this would include prices, contracts and menus), Transportation (includes limos, buses, or airline information on people flying in), Honeymoon, Cake and Flowers, etc. It is completely up to you on how you want to separate these sections. Whichever way you believe will be easiest for your to find what you want when you need it.

The most important thing to remember about this binder is to treat it like your own personal wedding bible. Every single thing that pertains to the wedding should be placed in it so no information gets lost. Nothing will have a groom or bride-to-be getting more stressed than not being able to find exactly what they need when they need it.

      Put Together a Wedding Checklist.

A wedding checklist is another perfect way to ensure that your planning goes smoothly. Write down a timetable of when you should begin certain tasks and when they should be completed. For instance, how long you have to order invitations, get your guest list finalized and get those
invitations in the mail. While you do not need to rush any of these tasks (unless under time constraints) a checklist will remind you when each of these tasks need to be completed so you have plenty of time to keep on top of things. If you go online you will find many websites that will give you an example of the perfect wedding checklists.
