A design template is used to create a consistent look and feel in Microsoft Office PowerPoint presentations. It includes a layout, background design and sample text, helping you create PowerPoint presentations quickly and efficiently. You don't have to spend extra time creating your presentation, and you can remove or replace the template at any point. The design template remains unchanged and can be reused in as many projects as you choose.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Microsoft Office PowerPoint
  1. Step 1

Open the Microsoft Office PowerPoint file that includes the design template you want to remove by selecting "File" and "Open." Navigate to find the file in the "Open" dialog box and double-click it.

  2. Step 2

Select the "Design" icon from the toolbar. You'll find it on the top, right area of the screen. The "Slide Design" task pane will open on the right. The current design template for your PowerPoint will be selected under "Used in the Presentation."

  3. Step 3

Remove the design template for a slide by clicking on the "Default Design .dot" thumbnail under "Available for Use." To remove a design template from all your slides, right-click on the "Default Design .dot" template thumbnail and select "Apply to All Slides."

  4. Step 4

Remove the design template for specific slides by selecting them in the "Slide" pane on the left. To select specific slides, hold down the "Ctrl" key and click on the slides you want.

  5. Step 5

Proceed to the "Slide Design" task pane on the right and right-click on the "Default Design .dot." Click "Apply to Selected Slides" to remove the design template from your selected slides. To remove the design from the slide master only, select "Apply to Master." To change the default design template for all your new PowerPoint presentations, select "Use for All New Presentations."

  6. Step 6

Remove a design template and replace it with a different design template by clicking on the template thumbnail you want to use in the "Slide Design" task pane. Right-click on the thumbnail and select your preferred choice. You can apply the design template changes to all slides, selected slides, the slide master or make it the default.
