- 1 1/2 tbsp. unsalted butter
- 2 oz. dark chocolate, chopped

- 2 egg yolks
- 16 oz. evaporated milk
- 3 3/4 tbsp. caster sugar

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Cut the brioche into thin slices and butter one side.

Place the brioche in a shallow, ovenproof baking dish, placing the buttered side down. Sprinkle a few pieces of chocolate over the top. Layer the brioche and chocolate until they are gone.

Beat the egg, egg yolks and sugar in a mixing bowl. Heat the milk in a small saucepan until simmering, and beat the milk into the egg mixture.

Pour the contents of the mixing bowl over the baking dish. Press the brioche into the milk with clean hands or a large spoon.

Place the ovenproof baking dish inside a roasting pan. Fill the roasting pan with boiling water until the water reaches the halfway level of the baking dish.
