How to Make Tissue Pompoms

Tissue pompoms are an inexpensive way to decorate just about anything. Hang them from the ceiling or use them to top your wrapped gifts. Tissue pompoms can be used to cover chicken wire on parade floats, or to decorate tables for special events. Tissue pompoms add texture and a bit of oomph to your decor.

Things You'll Need

• Tissue paper
• Pipe cleaners
• Scissors

Instructions

1. Determine how big you want your pompoms to be. The finished pompoms will be slightly smaller than the width of the flat sheets of tissue paper.

2. Lay the tissue paper on your work surface, then cut it to size. Starting at the bottom, fold the tissue paper accordion-style.

3. Wrap the end of a pipe cleaner around the center of the folded tissue paper.

4. Tighten the pipe cleaner so that it holds the tissue paper firmly in place. The pipe cleaner can be used as a flower stem or to attach your tissue pompom to an item.

5. Pull apart the layers of tissue paper. Start at the top of each sheet and pull apart each layer, all the way down to the center of the pompom.

6. Arrange the tissue layers so they are evenly dispersed into a round pompom shape.

• Add different colors of tissue paper to your pom-pom layers.
