Things You'll Need:
- donation center near you
- proper ID
- good health
-
Step 1
Find a plasma donation center near you. This is probably as easy as an online search or a quick check of your local phone book. If you are still having trouble finding a place, think of people you know who probably need quick cash (such as college students) and ask if anyone knows of a place.
-
Step 2
Call or stop by to find out the procedures for a first donation. The first time usually takes quite awhile, because there are a lot of forms to sign and they may do a basic physical exam (check blood pressure, etc). The whole first time can take as long as two hours or more, in some plasma donation centers.
-
Step 3
For the actual moment, just relax and follow instructions. People at a plasma donation center are trained in all the procedures and they do needle sticks all day, so most of them are quite good at it. It only hurts for the tiniest second and then after that, you can read a magazine or study or whatever you like to pass the time. Different plasma donation centers have different rules, but many do not allow cell phones or eating or closing your eyes while you are hooked to the machine. These rules are in place for your own safety.
-
Step 4
After the first time, you can just be a regular client. Set up a routine in your calendar and keep your plasma donation visits on schedule, just like any other appointment. Many places give you cash on the spot, as soon as you are done. Soon you'll be enjoying a steady income that can keep gas in the car or snacks in the fridge.

on 9/2/2009 I'll have to check this out, as I'm already an approved blood donor. I just hope I don't faint again!
