Instructions

If you are attending a four year university, visit your study abroad or international programs office. Every school that is large enough such as large state schools should have one. Also, small private liberal arts colleges should have one, at least if they are ranked at the top (by top, I mean top 1,000 or so.)

Your international office should be able to give you information about how you can travel abroad. Most universities, charge you the same amount for a study abroad semester or year as they would on your home campus. I traveled with Antioch College in OH, which has now closed. However, they even paid for my flight and gave me a weekly allowance for food as well as paid for group travel, sightseeing, and lodging.

If your university does not have a study abroad program in a country where you want to go, see if they have any exchange programs. Usually, schools will transfer your aid/tuition payment to exchange programs, especially if you find one that you would like to do and they do not have. Good luck and happy travels!

Tips & Warnings

  • Depending on your school, you might even find a program that is not part of your school that is cheaper.

  • With any exchange program, check with your school to make sure the credits do transfer.
