Things You'll Need:
- Time
- Knowledge
- Money to buy study materials and classes
-
Step 1
Materials and Media
It is important to research and select the proper materials and media. Some people will choose Kaplan or Princeton Review MCAT books or similar. It is also important to consider signing up for classes if you learn better that way. -
Step 2
Planning.
Analyze your learning skills. Do you learn best by reading on your own (Self Study) or do you learn better in a classroom atmosphere? Do you learn from reading or by doing practice problems? Once you self evaluate, determine a plan of how much time you will dedicate to studying and what percent of your time will be dedicated to each method of studying. -
Step 3
Scheduling.
It is important that you determine a plan and schedule for the upcoming exam. The schedule needs to be both challenging and realistic. Make the schedule so that you do not burn yourself out immediately, but do not save all of your studying for last minute cramming either. Also, consider lighter studying periods during finals week, holidays, or other busy times during the your year. Try to study at the same time every day and make it part of your daily routine. -
Step 4
Execute.
Now that you have your plan, it is time to execute your plan and start studying. Try to stay on pace and on schedule. Keep in mind that this step will take a lot of motivation and determination. You may have to stay in and study while your friends are enjoying a local special at the bar. Keep reminding yourself that this will pay off in the future.
