Make Spray to Get Rid of Spider Mites

Spider Mites are most than just a small pesky annoyance. They do damage to plants both indoors and out. Spider Mites come in a variety of colors ranging from a yellowish to brown to the more common reddish orange color. They damage plant leaves by piercing them to remove the insides. The plant leaves will develop a yellowy bronze color and will fall off. A heavy Spider Mite infestation can kill a plant or stop its growth. Some Spider Mite infestations are due to dry conditions. Spider Mites will travel to another plant and feed off of it, so it’s not usually just one plant involved. This is an easy to make, environmentally safe, pesticide free way to get rid of Spider Mites.

Instructions

Step 1

Mix the following ingredients in a bowl, bucket or large pitcher: ¼ of a cup of Buttermilk,let the buttermilk come to room temperature, sift 1 ¼ cups of whole wheat flour and a ½ gallon of very warm water. Use a hand mixer to mix the ingredients thoroughly.
Step 2

Pour the ingredients into a spray bottle and shake to break up any lumps. Remove any damaged leaves and discard in a sealed plastic bag to stop a re-infestation.
Step 3

Spray your houseplants or outdoor plants fairly heavily with this mixture. The Spider Mites become coated with the mixture, suffocate and die.
Step 4

Rinse the residue off of your plants after 24 hours. For large leaf plants wipe with a wet rag. Reapply as needed.
