Do you have gorgeous vintage china that has worn out from use, or have you unfortunately broken china? In either case, it should be replaced to maintain the value of your set. Most pieces, and even entire sets, are replaceable. Finding these vintage china patterns that are no longer manufactured can take some diligent effort.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go through your vintage china set and count your remaining pieces that are still good and worth keeping. Write down the exact name of the pattern or patterns of what you have and what is needed or wanted.

  2. Step 2

Take pictures of the pattern, especially if you will be personally traveling to look at vintage china offered for sale. When purchasing to replace your broken china or just add to your set, it will be important to be certain that what you are getting was not originally sold as a second. You will want to carefully look over the pieces for sale and compare them to your pattern.

  3. Step 3

Measure the piece or pieces needed so you get the right ones. Many vintage china patterns had various pieces that were made in different sizes and if someone is personally selling some, the size is very important in case they call it by the wrong name or did not measure it.

  4. Step 4

Find your pattern by visiting auctions, either on the internet or in person. Search the web by using various words or combinations, such as the name of the manufacturer, pattern and piece needed. It can also be helpful to let others or a replacements company know you are searching for it.

It is also possible that the manufacturer has a yearly program when needed replacements can be special ordered. You will need to contact the company and ask.

  5. Step 5

When ordering for delivery, it is good to charge it so that you have some recourse in the event the piece sent to you is not as described.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are picking up an item, bring additional wrapping to keep it secure and undamaged on the way home.
  • Be careful cleaning up broken china, the pieces can be extremely sharp.
