Step 1
edible fruit basketsUse your paring knife to carve the pineapple slices into edible fruit flowers for your edible fruit basket. If you have cookie cutters in different shapes, you can be creative and use those to cut the pineapple in shapes that appeal to you. Cut out center holes in the slices and add a strawberry dipped in chocolate to the center of your flower pineapple shape. As an alternative, scoop out a round melon ball to use as a flower center for your edible arrangement.
-
Step 2
fruit bouqetsCut the melon into wedges after removing the seeds. Use your knife to remove the rind. You will be using these wedges as leaves to surround the edible fruit flowers in your edible arrangement.
-
Step 3
edible arrangementsTake a skewer and put several strawberries through it. Place your flower pineapple shape on the top of the skewer. Make several skewers like this. Take some additional skewers and add a string of grapes to them.
-
Step 4
edible fruit basketsNow take some skewers and place a chocolate dipped strawberry on each. Use white and dark chocolate dipped strawberries for variety. Also skewer some of your melon wedges to use as leaves around your fruit flowers.
-
Step 5
edible arrangementsTake your basket and line it with plastic. Place your florist’s foam at the base of the basket. Take your fruit skewers and place them at different heights in the florist’s foam. As an alternative to florist’s foam, you can use half of a small watermelon as a base in your basket. Make a fruit bouqet with pineapple flowers, strawberry buds, melon leaves and grape vines. To fill in the arrangement, place chocolate covered pretzel sticks all around the sides and fill in empty spaces with romaine lettuce. You now know how to make edible arrangements!

on 9/1/2009 I think edible arrangements are so neat and a clever way to enjoy fruit. Usually they are quite expensive though, so I really enjoy this article to help me create one myself. I have a friend with an upcoming birthday that I should make one of these for. Thanks!

on 8/24/2009 These are so beautiful and delicious! My mom use to send them to me at college. They're expensive so it would save you so much by following your steps and making it yourself. 5 stars!
