I will explain the basics of dance dance revolution and how I became so good at it!

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dance dance revolution game
  • Money
  • Determination
  1. Step 1

Get a Dance Dance Revolution game and the starting dance pad.

  2. Step 2

Once you start playing the key is to watch the arrows scroll up. Once the arrows that are scrolling reach the top hit the corresponding arrow on the dance mat. Be sure to feel the music and move with it. Keeping on beat and rhythm will help.

  3. Step 3

Don't stand in the middle!! This is the hardest habit to break. Standing in the middle can cause you to lose balance trying to hit arrows in awkward patterns. Keep your feet on the arrows and hit the arrows as they reach the top.

  4. Step 4

Don't let stage fright keep you from playing. The only way you're going to get better is by constantly playing. I used crowds and audiences as motivation to do better.

  5. Step 5

After you got the basics down. You can start passing beginner and light songs start creating challenges even though you know you won't pass it. Try playing some standard and heavy songs and keep trying.

  6. Step 6

Find a buddy that plays the game. They will keep you alive while you're playing a song that you wont pass. So when you're playing with someone, warm up first then play a challenging song as the last song.

  7. Step 7

Practice! Practice! Practice! Failing just means you're one step closer to being a DDR master. Just keep going and keep making challenges for yourself and soon you'll be able to do it all!

Tips & Warnings
  • Never give up!
  • Don't let failure get you down, even some of the best players couldn't pass a song when they first started.
  • Once you get to faster and harder songs try not to overdo anything. Especially if you're new with the game. Still to this day I've pushed myself to blackout when over exerting myself.
