Bond With Your New Cat
Bond With Your New Cat

You have picked out your new furry best friend, and have brought them home. Begin to build a lifelong relationship with your new cat in the best possible way.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Remember that your new cat is probably scare and confused. It will probably take about a month for it to adjust to your home, and about 6 months for it to feel completely comfortable. Give your new cat time to adjust.

  2. Step 2

Talk to your cat frequently. Cats are very intuitive, and when you include them in your life, they know it. They are soothed by your voice, and can recognize a friendly voice.

  3. Step 3

Play with your cat frequently, and if possible, establish a daily routine of brushing, playing and snuggling. Cats hate surprises. Your cat will feel much more comfortable if it knows what to expect.

  4. Step 4

Never hit or yell at your cat. If you need to correct a behavior, try a different approach, such as a squirt bottle (as long as they don't see you squirt it) or double sided tape to keep it from scratching or jumping up on forbidden surfaces. You want your cat to associate you with love and affection.
