Relieve allergy symptoms

Beyond allergy prescription, and over the counter medication, there are natural alternatives to treat symptoms and provide relief. Acupressure is one such alternative that can be quickly and easily learned and used to quell sneezing, itchy and watery eyes, pain and congestion of hay fever and other seasonal allergies.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1
    Li 4
    Li 4

Apply pressure to Li 4. This point is located in the web between your thumb and forefinger. Firm pressure on this point may relieve sinus or other headaches, stuffiness, and hay fever symptoms.

***WARNING: not to be used by pregnant women. Contractions may be stimulated with the use of this point.

  2. Step 2
    K 27
    K 27

Maintain firm finger pressure on K 27, located just beneath the collar bone where it meets the sternum at the base of the throat, to alleviate chest congestion and cough.

  3. Step 3
    Lv 3
    Lv 3

Trace with one finger from the space between the bones of the big toe and second toe in toward the ankle until the bones come together in a notch. Press and rub this point, Lv 3, with less firm pressure to counter the effects of allergy symptoms.

  4. Step 4
St 36 - Use four fingers to hit the point
St 36 - Use four fingers to hit the point

Use four fingers of one hand to apply pressure to St 36, located four fingers widths below the base of the kneecap and approximately one and a half inches to the outside of the leg from the center of the kneecap. Stimulating this acupressure point may help allergies by strengthening the function of the entire body.

Tips & Warnings
  • These are generalized allergy acupressure points. There are many more to assist with specifics such as sinus pain and pressure.
  • Again, Li 4 should NOT be used by pregnant women unless under advisement by a health care practitioner due to the potential to stimulate premature uterine contractions.
