Step 1
Know what gas station in your area is the cheapest. Most of the time the gas station that is the cheapest in your area will stay the cheapest with price changes. Also there are web sites out there that will tell you the gas prices in your area. One of the best is : http://gasbuddy.com/
-
Step 2
Just because the gas is the cheapest doesn't mean it is the best option to saving on gas. If a generic gas station is around 3 cents cheaper than a name brand, say a BP or Shell, The name brand is your better option here. Most name brand gas has additives in it that the generic gas does not. These additives improve gas mileage and also help keep your engine clean.
-
Step 3
Know when a sale is going on. Some gas stations have specials on certain days. For example: super Thursday where gas is 5 cents off.
-
Step 4
Sign up for a gas stations credit card. Some credit cards will give you cash back for gas purchases. This could save on gas.
