Consider whether you are a good fit for Walmart or Sam's Club. Most Walmart positions are in-store associate jobs, which are entry-level, non-management positions. While pay is not high and full-time jobs can take a while to get, Walmart offers a great opportunity to learn the retail business and get medical insurance coverage. There are many other jobs with Walmart you may want to consider including: management, pharmacy and optical, logistics jobs in regional distribution centers; corporate jobs, mostly in Walmart headquarters in Arkansas; and truck drivers.

Apply online or obtain an application from the store where you want to work. Remember that appearance counts when you ask for an application form. Make sure you are well groomed. Try not to wear excessive jewelry, wild t-shirts or flip flops. Carefully fill in your application. Describe your background and what types of jobs you are interested in. Stress experience relevant to Walmart or Sam's Club's jobs. Neatness counts, as does spelling. Have a friend proof read your application before you send it in.

If your application is of interest to Walmart, you will be called for an interview. For the interview, show up on time and be presentable. Note how other Walmart workers are dressed to see if there is anything about their attire and hair that you may want to assume for your interview. Be pleasant and positive. Express your interest in Walmart and state how you want to work hard and learn the business.

If you don't get the job, you might want to try re-applying for seasonal jobs during the holidays, applying at a different store and look for new store grand openings and applying for a position when able.
