How to Apply Aldara Cream While Menstruating
Aldara cream is a prescription topical ointment used to treat external genital warts and other skin conditions like actinic keratosis and superficial basal cell carcinoma. The cream works by activating the body's natural immune response to fight off the virus that causes genital warts and to eliminate the cells affected by the virus. Aldara is one of the most effective alternative options to surgical procedures. It must be used until the warts clear up, or for about 16 weeks. Aldara can still be used during a woman's menstrual period.
Instructions

1
Wash your hands and the affected area thoroughly with warm water and soap. Pat dry with a towel.
-
2
If you use tampons, insert one into your vagina at this point. This will prevent blood from leaking out and mixing in with the cream. It will also help you keep the cream out of the vaginal opening. If you use pads, apply one to the cotton underwear now and set aside.

-
3
Open a new packet of Aldara cream. Using your finger, apply the cream onto the affected areas. Take care not to apply the cream on unaffected areas (skin that does not have any warts).
-
4
Carefully rub the cream onto the genital warts. Make sure none of the cream enters the vaginal opening. Wash your hands thoroughly after application.
-
5
Wait about a minute for the cream to dry and start absorbing into your skin. Put on the cotton underwear with the pad.
-
6
Leave the cream on the area for 6-10 hours. For best results, use overnight. In the morning, wash off the cream.
-
7
Use the cream in this manner once a day, three times a week. Use it either Monday, Wednesday, Friday or Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.
