Things You'll Need:
- Computer
- Internet connection
-
Step 1
Identify your faxing requirements by looking at the volume that you send and receive for at least the past three months. Also check to see if there are certain geographical areas, local or international, that you send and receive faxes to or from. This would help you choose what type of subscription package to use when subscribing to a fax service.
-
Step 2
Go the websites of companies that offer faxing services in Canada. Only look at the ones who offer fax numbers or toll-free numbers. Some of these companies include Ring Central, Segway Communications and NewTollFreeNumber.com. Go through the list of Canadian area codes that they offer and check whether the area code that you're looking for is included in their service.
-
Step 3
Look for system requirements that their services need in order to function. This may be computer hardware or software. System requirements can be a computer operations system (Vista, Windows XP, Mac OS, etc.) or CPUs with Pentium processors. Check your existing setup to determine whether this fits their requirements.
-
Step 4
Check out the different subscription packages that they offer. Make sure that subscription payments are in Canadian dollars. Find one that best suits your requirement. Compare the packages by price, the number of incoming and outgoing faxes allowed, how long the faxes are stored, geographical coverage and other points of comparison based on your requirement. Most of these fax service companies offer Internet faxing services, while some offer an option for the issued fax numbers to receive phone calls (for an additional fee, of course).
-
Step 5
Try to see if they offer a 30-day free trial. The reason for doing this is not just to check on their services, but to test their customer service support as well. If they do not offer a trial period, but you think their package offer is acceptable to you, you may proceed with the subscription application.
