      Place ADSL filters on all of the telephone lines of the home or office. The filters will reduce line noise and prevent intermittent connectivity problems. DSL filters can be obtained from your Internet service provider. You can also purchase filters from your local computer store.

      Use the "Cat5" Ethernet cable that came with your ADSL modem to connect the modem to the computer. One end of the Cat5 cable should be inserted into the "Ethernet" port of the modem with the other end of the cable being connected to the "Ethernet" port of your computer.

      Power on your Netgear modem and computer. All three lights on your Netgear modem should light and sync.

      Configure your Netgear modem if it did not come pre-configured by your Internet service provider. To configure your modem, open your Internet browser and type "192.168.0.1," which is the modem's IP address. You will need to enter your username and password provided by your Internet service provider to being the "Smart Setup Wizard." The wizard will automatically detect your DSL connection and auto-configure your modem.

      Open your Internet Browser to begin browsing the Internet once the Smart Setup Wizard has completed the configuration.
