Have you ever wondered how they cut those sweet, juicy, perfect pineapple rings before they put them in a can? Wonder no more. With just one simple kitchen tool, you can enjoy fresh and delicious pineapple rings for snacking or for your favorite recipes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pineapple
  • Pineapple slicer
  • Sharp kitchen knife
  1. Step 1

Using a large, sharp kitchen knife, cut the top off the pineapple about 1/2 inch to one inch down. Save the pineapple top - you can dry it outside for 2 days, then plant it to grow a new pineapple plant (i.e., best grown in warmer/tropical climes).

  2. Step 2

Use your knife to cut about 1/2 inch to one inch off the bottom of the pineapple. This leaves you with two flat ends.

Position the pineapple slicer on the top of the pineapple, making sure you properly align the central tube with the pineapple core.

  4. Step 4

Applying downward pressure, turn the slicer handle clockwise.

  5. Step 5

Continue turning the pineapple slicer handle clockwise until you reach the bottom of the pineapple.

  6. Step 6

Pull slicer upward to remove sliced pineapple rings.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use fresh pineapple rings in fruit salads and in Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Or, cut rings into chunks and place on top of ice cream, waffles, pancakes, yogurt, and other tasty treats.
  • Using a pineapple slicer is safer then cutting the pineapple by hand.
