Although gift wrap is often a spur-of-the-moment purchase, you can save money if you think ahead and buy online.

From Quick Guide: Gift Wrapping
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Enter the words "wrapping paper" or "gift wrap" in a search engine such as Google or Yahoo. If desired, be more specific in your search, with words such as "Christmas wrapping paper."

  2. Step 2

Browse the sites. Often, sites that sell wrapping paper also sell cards, ribbon and gifts. You may be able to take care of all your shopping and wrapping needs in one online shopping trip.

  3. Step 3

Look for gift-wrapping tips or other creative ideas on the site.

  4. Step 4

Search for wrapping paper by occasion (Christmas, baby, etc.) or browse the entire gift-wrap section of the site.

  5. Step 5

Read the product information carefully so you will know exactly what you are getting. Focus on the number of sheets or square feet of paper on a roll and check to see if there are any extras included (such as ribbon or tags) or if you are only getting the paper.

  6. Step 6

Click on products, where possible, to enlarge photos and get a better look at the product.

  7. Step 7

If you find something you like, click to add it to your shopping cart. Continue shopping for ribbon, tags or enclosure cards, or anything else you will need to complete the process of wrapping gifts.

  8. Step 8

Proceed to the site's checkout once you have finished shopping.

  9. Step 9

Fill in the shipping and payment information.

  10. Step 10

Review the total before submitting the order, including the shipping and handling charges and taxes, if applicable. Be sure you have everything you need.

  11. Step 11

    Submit your order.

Tips & Warnings
  • Shopping for wrapping paper online is a bit challenging since you can't feel the quality of the paper and some sites don't do a good job of showing the design. If you are concerned about the quality of the paper, shop on the Web sites of manufacturers you know and trust.
  • Some sites offer a special-occasion reminder service that will notify you by e-mail if a special occasion requiring a gift is coming soon.
