Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • iPod Classic
  1. Step 1

The first step in keeping your iPod Classic organized involves updating your iTunes preferences.

#1 - From the main menu, click on the word EDIT at the top menu. The word EDIT is next to FILE. A drop down menu appears.
#2 - Click on the word PREFERENCES. A new window appears.
#3 - On the ADVANCED tab make sure the two boxes in the middle of the screen are checked (Keep iTunes music folder organized and Copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library)

  2. Step 2

The second step in keeping your iPod Classic organized involves updating your Device preferences. On the left side of the screen is a list of folders (library, store, playlists). In the middle of this list is your iPod. If your iPod is connected then it should appear. If you gave your iPod a name then the name should appear (ie, My iPod).

#1 - Select SUMMARY folder then PODCAST. Make sure the checkbox is marked for Sync ALL episodes of all podcasts.
#2 - Select MUSIC folder then SYNC MUSIC. Make sure the checkbox is marked for All Songs and Playlist.
#3 - Repeat these steps for MOVIES, TV SHOWS, PHOTOS, CONTACTS, GAMES.

  3. Step 3

The last step in keeping your iPod Classic organized is to create playlist. Playlist are individual folders where you can store individual items. You can create playlist to separate your jazz music from your opera music. You can create playlist to separate your learn Spanish podcast from your daily motivational quote podcast. Having separate playlist for all of your items is similar to maintaining a file folder system at your desk.

Tips & Warnings
  • Start small with the number of playlist. As you get familiar and can easily manage your iPod then add more playlist.
  • Continue to remove songs, podcasts, video clips, etc that are no longer needed.
