How to Tint Glass

Tinted glass can be great to keep heat out of a house of vehicle. In a few steps any one can tint their own glass. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Glass tinting film
  • Squeegee
  • Special glass cleaner
  • Utility knife

Instructions

    • 1

      Clean the glass extremely well. You will want to start with a general cleaner to remove all major spots. Do a final cleaning the cleaner recommended by the tinting film manufacturer. Make sure not to leave any lint behind.

      Unroll the tint film and apply as directed by the manufacturer. The film may be to large for the glass that you are covering but that is fine for now. You will have to spray the film with the recommended cleaner to get the film to stick to the glass.

      Trim the film as directed by the manufacturer to fit the exact glass size. It is easier to trim while it is one the window than trying to guess. Some film may shrink as it warms up from the sun so be sure to follow the manufactures directions.

  • Be patient

  • Be sure to use lots of cleaner from the manufacturer

  • A small squeegee works best

  • If putting on a vehicle be sure to check laws in your area for the amount of tinting that can be used.
