Buying back to School Clothes for the kids does not have to be super expensive. You can buy your kids new clothes this fall for school that are in style, inexpensive, and exactly what they want to wear. You just have to watch the sales, shop at garage sales, and buy clothing that is on clearance.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sales flyers
  • Local newspapers
  • Internet connection
  1. Step 1

Waiting until the Labor Day weekend to buy kids' back to school clothes means you are too late! The lines are super long. The selection is gone and only certain sizes are left. Clearance racks are stripped bare by this time. Buy the kids clothes weeks before school starts by shopping online and getting free shipping.

  2. Step 2

Start shopping in July and August for back to school! Peruse the clearance racks for kids' clothes. The kids can wear summer clothes for a few weeks until it gets cooler. They can wear shorts and short sleeve tops for awhile---just not sleeveless and spaghetti strap outfits.

  3. Step 3

Shop online during the last weeks of summer and make great use of free shipping offers. Some retailers may have winter and last falls clothing still hanging around---order these clothes for mere pennies!

  4. Step 4

Peruse garage sales during summer and fall months for super cheap deals! Walk around, make friends at neighborhood sales, and get great bargains. Buy clothes that are slightly used or in many cases never worn for a dollar or less.

  5. Step 5

Buy the kids' clothes NOW at inexpensive retailers such as Wal-Mart, Target and shoe stores that are less than ten dollars a pair. Don't wait to get deals when school starts, because the larger and smaller sizes will be gone.

Tips & Warnings
  • Spruce up hand me downs by adding bows, and decorative details. Cut down larger pants, making shorts, or capris.
  • Take an old paid of jeans and make it look worn and in style without the higher price by washing, adding a little tear, and beating up the jeans.
  • Don't procrastinate---the mall will be packed and you will become frustrated.
  • Many kids don't dress up any more---they wear shorts and grubby jeans all year long.
