Salmon is a wonderfully versatile fish that can be cooked in many ways. Oven baked Salmon is a quick dish that can be prepared and cooked in about 30 minutes.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 pound of salmon per person on average, 1 stick of unsalted butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and fresh minced garlic.
  1. Step 1

Cut your stick of butter in small, half of inch pads. The size does not have the be exact and the amount of butter should depend only upon the amount of fish. You will use two pads per fillet, and two in the dish. This can be increased if you like the butter flavor.

  2. Step 2

Place your fillets into a baking dish. Add your seasonings to taste on both sides.

  3. Step 3

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

  4. Step 4

Add two pads of butter to each fillet and toss one or two pads on to the baking dish. The butter will serve to both flavor the fish and moisten it.

  5. Step 5

When your oven is preheated and your fish is seasoned and buttered, place the baking dish into the oven for 20-30 minutes. Salmon should be a light pink to almost white. If you have a baking thermometer, the internal temperature should read about 135.

  6. Step 6

Let the salmon sit in the pan on a hot plate, for about 5 minutes. This will allow the fish to absorb some of the butter and allow for the internal temperature to rise another five degrees. Serve on a bed of rice, or plate it with a steamed vegetable of your choice.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try to get fresh Salmon. Fresh Salmon should have a very light smell that does not smell fishy. Your Salmon is done when the flesh is not longer meaty and separates with ease. If you cut into the salmon, there should not be any pink in the middle.
  • Do not over season your Salmon. Use cation, and baking mitts, when removing the salmon from the oven as the contents will be hot and will splash.
