Eggy in the Basket
Eggy in the Basket

Eggy in the basket is a quick and easy deluxe French toast and egg dish for those mornings that you want to feel a little pampered but you don't want to go to a lot of fuss.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bread
  • Eggs
  • Milk
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Non-stick vegetable cooking spray
  • Griddle or frying pan
  1. Step 1

Get out a griddle or frying pan and spray with a non-stick vegetable cooking spray. I like the butter flavored kind of spray.

  2. Step 2

Select the number of pieces of bread that need to make the number of desired servings. One serving requires two pieces of bread.

  3. Step 3

Prepare the bread by using a round cookie cutter or similar item, such as the top of a cup, to cut a hole in the center of the bread that is approximately 2 ½ to 3 inches in diameter.

  4. Step 4

Place your pan or griddle over medium low heat.

  5. Step 5

Make your French toast batter. Once again I never get around to measuring anything but I used about a cup of milk, three eggs and enough cinnamon and nutmeg to taste. Beat thoroughly until well mixed in a pie pan or shallow backing dish large enough to accommodate the bread.

  6. Step 6

Take one piece of bread, dunk it in the French toast batter and place it on the griddle.

  7. Step 7

Crack an egg into the hole that you cut on the bread.

  8. Step 8

Cook until you have the egg at the desired hardness. Flipping it as needed. You should only have to flip it once.

  9. Step 9

Place on a serving plate. You can serve it with butter and any kind of syrup, depending on you taste.

  10. Step 10

    Serve and enjoy your breakfast!
