Step 1
Understand what perfect for you means. Do you want someone who you can go out drinking with on Saturday night? How about someone who will be perfectly content cuddling with you on the couch instead of going out. Make a list of 5-10 attributes you desire in a spouse and try to find someone with these attributes.

Step 2
Birds of a feather flock together-- people tend to marry people who are like themselves. So look around you. Chances are you will be more successful at finding your own match if you look at your church, social activities, and work. You have already decided these were good ways to spend your time, so it will be more likely you will find a partner who feels the same way.

Step 3
Look at big decisions. There is a reason why graduates of small colleges tend to marry each other, they both decided to attend this one college out of the 4,000+ options available. Look at alumni happy hours and events to find someone who you might have missed while at school, but is perfect for you.

Step 4
Look at your non-negotiables to make smart decisions. If your job and your life are location based and super important to you, falling in love with someone in the military is a bad idea. Similarly, if your religious convictions are strong, don't marry someone with equally as strong, conflicting religions convictions. Save yourself the heartache before you fall in love.
