How to Make a Good Impression on a Blind Date
Going on a blind date can be nerve-racking, but many people find them a good way to meet someone they might be compatible with. And while you might be worried about how the other person will look and act on your date, you won't have to worry about making a good impression yourself if you follow a few easy tips.

1
Pick an appropriate spot for your date. Go someplace where you can talk. Movies where you're forced to sit in silence or noisy nightclubs where you have to scream to speak to each other are not a good idea for a blind date.
-
2
Shower, wash your hair and dress nicely. Wear appropriate clothing--something you feel comfortable in, but not something that's sloppy or worn out. Go easy on the cologne or the makeup.
-
-
3
Be polite. Remember to say please and thank you. Hold doors open for your date. Offer to pick up the check or split the bill.
-
4
Pay attention to your body language. Stand and sit up straight.
-
5
Listen. Pay attention to what your date is saying. Look your date in the eye. Don't dominate the conversation.
-
6
Tell your date something about yourself. Speak clearly. Don't talk with your hand over your mouth.
-
7
Turn your cell phone off during the entire date. Do not check for calls or messages. Do not text during the date.
-
8
Avoid excessive alcohol. You may have a tendency to want to drink because you're nervous, but nobody wants a drunken date.
-
9
Be yourself. Act naturally. Don't perform for the other person. Remember you are perfect just the way you are.
-
10
Don't linger or wear out your welcome. At the end of the date, if things have gone well, arrange to contact or see the person again. If things haven't gone well, be honest but considerate, and be on your way.

Tips & Warnings
If a friend set up your date, ask him about the other person's interests so you have something to talk about when you meet. Don't set your expectations too high. Be open-minded about your date. Don't expect perfection.
Be safe about your blind date. Let a friend or relative know where you are going and who you'll be with. Make the location for the date a public place.
