Your favorite bar or other establishment may have a few pool tables. It's not a great idea to go challenging players at those tables, however, if you are unfamiliar with the rules of different pool games. You can learn the rules of pool games such at 9 ball, 8 ball, cutthroat and straight pool by playing online pool games. Unlike playing pool at the bar, you can enjoy each of these online pool games anytime you want for free.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Join the 3D Pool website (see Resources). This website gives you the option of playing different types of pool games online against human opponents. Your goal is to move up in the rankings of pool players. If you don't want to jump right into the 3D Pool world, you can select the "Free Try" tab on the homepage. Doing so will allow you to play a practice game of pool in order to determine if this is the right website for you.

  2. Step 2

Go to the Mini Pool game on Free Online Games (see Resources). In this one player game, you will need to clear all of the pool balls from the table before the time runs out. When you have successfully done so, you will move on to the next level of the game. The game will end when you can't beat the clock. After the game concludes, you will have the option of submitting your score.

  3. Step 3

Try Blast Billiards (see Resources). This game is similar to Mini Pool in that you must sink every pool ball, which is a "bomb" on the table, before the clock runs out. The big difference is that the pool balls are not racked at the start of the game. You will also have more control over your shots, such as adding topspin. When your game concludes, you can submit your score for free without creating an account.

  4. Step 4

Play Pentagon Pool (see Resources). This free pool game is similar to the previous two in that you are only playing against the clock. Unlike a standard pool table, however, this game takes place on a table with five holes. At the start of the game, you will be able to choose the difficulty. Once you do, the game will begin.
