Quickly and Easily Remove a Red Wine Stain From Clothing or Tablecloths

Drinking a fine red wine is one of my favorite ways to relax. But all of that relaxation can quickly disappear if you accidentally spill some of it on your favorite shirt. Guess what? That is exactly what happened to me last week. A red wine stain can be devastating if not treated properly and quickly. If you happen to spill some wine on a cotton shirt there is a quick and easy way to help eliminate the stain. Salt, that’s right, common everyday table salt.

In this article I will share the method I used to make sure the stain would not set.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Table Salt
  1. Step 1

First, immediately pour enough salt directly on the red wine stain for it to soak up the liquid. You should pour enough salt on the stain to totally coat and cover the entire stain.

  2. Step 2

Next, soak the entire shirt in cold water for ½ hour. The colder the water the better.

  3. Step 3

Wash the shirt as per the manufacturer’s instructions on the label.

  4. Step 4

After the shirt is washed you will see that the salt helped save your favorite shirt from a dreaded wine stain.

This method also works on cotton table clothes as well.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure to immediately cover the stain with salt to soak up the liquid
  • Wash the item as per the manufacturer’s instructions on the label
