Things You'll Need:
- Several banana peppers
- Cutting board
- Paring knife
- Teaspoon
- Freezer safe container
- Masking tape
- Pen
-
Step 1
Wash and dry your banana peppers before beginning the freezing process.
-
Step 2
Cut off both ends of the pepper. These scraps can be added to your backyard compost bin or pile. Slice the pepper down the center, lengthwise, into two sections. (Makes a pretty little butterfly!)
-
Step 3
Take the end of the pepper in one hand and the teaspoon in the other. Holding the spoon sideways, run it down the inside of the pepper scooping out all the seeds. These, too, can go into your compost.
-
Step 4
Place the banana pepper pieces into a freezer safe container. Layer pepper upon pepper until the container is full. Do not push, or jam, pepper pieces into the container; otherwise they will be difficult to remove once they are frozen. Once the container is full, secure the lid. On a piece of masking tape, write ‘banana peppers’ and the date frozen. Attach this label to your container, and store in the freezer.
