Pack a little fun into your child’s lunch box by creating this cool pig sandwich. This easy to make sandwich is sure to be a hit whether at home or in the school cafeteria.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • bread
  • Ham or bologna
  • Blueberries
  1. Step 1

Start with two slices of sandwich bread.

  2. Step 2

Use ham or bologna when making this sandwich since you want your pig to be pink. Fill the bread with the lunch meat and add cheese, toppings and condiments just as you would if you were preparing an ordinary ham or bologna sandwich. Don’t fill the sandwich all the way to the edges however, as you will be eliminating the crust and some of the edges and any food in those areas will go to waste.

  3. Step 3

Cut a circle out of the sandwich, not quite from the center of the bread, but off to one side as pictured here. You can cut out your circle using a round cookie cutter. If you don’t have a cookie cutter you can use a knife or pizza cutter to do it free hand or use a jar or container lid as a guide.

  4. Step 4

Cut two triangles from the remaining part of the sandwich. These will serve as the ears.

  5. Step 5

Shape a piece of the bread remnants into the pig’s nose. You can also use a pickle chip to serve as the base for the nose.

  6. Step 6

Cut shapes to cover the face, ears and the nose from an additional piece of ham or bologna and layer the meat on top of the bread shapes. You may need to use a little butter or other condiment to hold the meat in place.

  7. Step 7

Position the ears and the nose in their respective places on the pig’s face.

  8. Step 8

Add two blueberries for the eyes and place another two blueberries as the nostrils. Raisins work just as well as blueberries.

  9. Step 9

Plate your sandwich and serve or pack in a container that will keep the sandwich from shifting until lunchtime. Use lettuce, cherry tomatoes, apple slices, celery sticks or baby carrots as nutritional filler for the container to help hold the pig in place.
