Install Fonts in Windows Vista

Learn how to install fonts onto any computer running on Windows Vista! It's very quick and easy.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A downloaded font
  • An unzipping program
  • Windows Vista
  1. Step 1

Have your font ready to install. You can download fonts for free from various websites online. Example sites include: http://dafont.com and http://www.1001freefonts.com.

  2. Step 2

If your font came in a zipped folder, unzip it using an extracting program, such as WinRAR (usually done by right-clicking and choosing 'Extract').

  3. Step 3

You will now have a folder that allows you to access your font! Open that folder and keep it to the side.

  4. Step 4

Meanwhile, open the start menu, and go to the Control Panel. Choose 'Appearance and Personalization,' and you will see the folder titled 'Fonts.' Select that option and the folder containing all of the fonts on your computer will open.

  5. Step 5

Go back to the folder with your downloaded font. Drag the file from there to the Fonts folder you opened in the control panel, and you're done! If you don't see the new font right away, it might require either a restart of the program you're using or the computer. Happy font-searching!
