How to Use a Sabiki Rig

Sabiki rigs are bait rigs designed to catch small bait fish. The rigs consist of several hooks decorated with a small piece of plastic or fish scale. They can be used from the shore and typically produce multiple loads of live bait.

  • Reel

Instructions

    • 1

      Attach the swivel end of the sabiki to a fishing line.

      Attach the lead sinker to the other end of the sabiki rig. There is usually a clip on this end.

      Drop the sabiki rig straight down into the water. Keep allowing line to come off until the sabiki rig hits the bottom.

      Reel in several feet until the bait rig is about 1 foot off of the bottom.

      Pull back on the fishing rod, then allow the rod tip to fall back to the water. Repeat this until the fish bite the rig.

      Reel the rig to the surface and remove the bait fish from the hooks. Repeat the procedure until you have all of the bait fish you need.
