Step 1
Do you often feel full and bloated? Do you have abdominal pain and headaches? Are your bowel movements far and few between (less than 3 times a week)? And when you do go, you have small, hard stools? These could be symptoms of constipation.
-
Step 2
A high fiber diet is usually all it takes to help fix this problem, but if things have gone on too long, you might want to try one of the other suggestions below.
Most people only eat about 11 to 18 grams of fiber a day, but if you're constipated, then you need almost 35 grams of fiber to help you get back on track. -
Step 3
Believe it or not, but Aromatherapy can help cure constipation. Add 6 drops of Rosemary and 6 drops of Thyme essential oils to one ounce of either olive oil or almond oil. Gently massage this mixture into your stomach clockwise: up the right side of the stomach, across the top part and down the left side.
Do this until the oil is almost completely absorbed into the skin. -
Step 4
Using acupressure points can also relieve your constipation. If you are eating properly and exercising, but you still are constipated, then acupressure can relax your stomach, relieve the discomfort and help create a regular bowel movement.
While lying on your flat on your bed (on your back), put your pointer finger just below your belly button. Place your middle finger and ring finger right below your pointer, so that you are three fingers below your belly button. This area is what is called your CV 6(Sea of Energy Point).
Close your eyes and relax. Breathe deeply while you apply gradual and gentle pressure with your three fingertips. Do this for about 2 minutes. -
Step 5
If you prefer a Herbal Therapy, try Cascara sagrada. This can be found in most health food stores.
The most effective form of this herb is cascara aromatic fluid extract. The usual dose is 1/2 teaspoon daily.
As always, follow the instructions on the label. -
Step 6
Juice therapy is another well used treatment for constipation. You want to drink 8 to 10 ounces of this juice mixture.
Blend equal amounts of apple, fresh ginger, beet and carrot juices or you can mix 8 ounces of apple and pear juices (make sure you use equal amounts of each). It the apple/pear juice is too sweet, add a little water to dilute.
You can also eat or juice dark green leafy vegetables such as: Parsley, spinach or asparagus.
