Apply Interlux Bottomkote

Interlux Bottomkote is a paint-on covering for boats and is ideally suited for cruising and power boats. Interlux Bottomkote offers a soft, eroding finish that boasts easy cleaning and minimal paint buildup. It can be applied over all types of properly prepared bottom paints and surfaces, with the exception of aluminum. The type of surface your boat has will determine how to apply Interlux Bottomkote.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dish soap
  • Water
  • Scrub brush
  • Bucket
  • Rags
  • Fiberglass Solvent Wash 202
  • 80-grit sandpaper
  • Paint brush, roller or sprayer
  1. Step 1

Scrub the area to be painted thoroughly with the scrub brush, soap and water. Rinse with fresh water and let dry. Wet a rag with the Fiberglass Solvent Wash 202. Use this rag to wipe a small area of the boat. While the area is still wet with solvent, use another dry rag to wipe the solvent off. Repeat until all the parts of the boat that need paint have been washed with the solvent.

  2. Step 2

Sand the area needing to be painted with 80-grit sandpaper. Remove the sanding residue and re-wipe the entire area with the solvent again.

  3. Step 3

Use the paint brush, roller or paint sprayer to apply the Interlux Bottomkote, like any other paint. Pay close attention to packaging instructions regarding dry time and returning the boat to the water times.
