How to Change Windows XP Icons to Look Like Vista's Icons

For users still using Windows XP, there is a free tool available for download that allows you to change the icons to look like Vista. IconTweaker comes with a large variety of schemes that create a desktop of customized colors, background images, fonts and icons. Installing the tool is simple, and using it to change your Windows XP desktop only takes a few steps in the application.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Download the application at download.cnet.com/IconTweaker/3000-2195_4-10483132.html and save it to your hard drive.

  2. Step 2

    Double-click the ""setup.exe file and the installation wizard begins. Select a location for the install files and click "I agree" to the software license agreement. Click the "Next" button and wait while the software installs to your computer.

  3. Step 3

    Click the Windows "Start" button, select "All Programs" and choose the "IconTweaker" menu item.

  4. Step 4

    Click "Load Theme" from the menu at the top of the window. In the list of themes presented, select "Vista" and click "OK."

  5. Step 5

    Reboot your computer for the changes to fully take effect.
