How to Learn to Line Dance
A line dance is a series of steps and moves completed by a line of dancers simultaneously. Since Billy Ray Cyrus' "Achy Breaky Heart" in 1992, line dancing has become one of America's favorite dances (the country line dance being the most popular of all the line dances). Learning to line-dance is simple; just follow the steps below and you'll be dancing in mere minutes.

Standing straight with legs approximately 1 foot apart, cross your left foot behind your right.

With your left foot behind your right one, move your right foot out about 6 inches to the right and stomp it. While stomping your right foot, clap your hands and pivot your body to the right.

Move your left foot about 6 inches, then cross your left foot behind your right foot.

Move your left foot out again about 6 inches and stomp it. As you do, clap your hands and pivot your body to the back. After you clap your hands, move your right foot out 6 inches, repeat and reverse, pivoting your body for the third time, to the left.

Move your right foot out 6 inches, cross, move your left foot back, stomp and clap, turning your entire body back to the front.

Tips & Warnings
This is one of a number of basic line-dancing steps. Find out if your local pool or dance halls have any country line dancing, and be sure to get out on the floor and practice. The more you practice, the better you'll get.
