Open a word processing program such as Microsoft Word to begin designing your invitation. You can also use programs such as Adobe Illustrator or online websites such as Evite.
-
2
Create the basic setup for your invitation by using a template. In Word, choose an invitation template by clicking on "View" and "Template." The wording and location of the templates in other programs will vary.
-
-
3
Create a theme or title for the birthday party. For example, you can enter your child's name or simply say, "You are invited."
-
4
Type the event details on the invitation. Include the event's name, location, date, time the event starts and ends, and RSVP and contact information. Also, for younger children, include information about whether children will need to have an adult stay with them or if it is a drop-off party. If it is a surprise birthday party, be sure to state so on the invitation so that other children don't spoil the surprise.
-
5
Upload child-friendly graphics to the invitation. Many children like bright and bold colors, or you can use cartoon characters that inform the birthday theme.
-
6
Save your design. In Word, do this by clicking on "File" and "Save As."
-
7
Print out the birthday invitations or send them via email if you are using an online invitation.
