Traditionally, wedding guests adorn the bride and groom with gifts at their reception to honor their new life together. Purchasing the perfect gift can be almost painstaking for the invitee. Thus, many guests decide to give money in lieu of a traditional gift. Because of that, it's customary for wedding planning to include creating a card box for the reception. You usually can find this at the gift table. Creating the perfect box is simple. Follow this guide to make your own wedding card box that matches the colors of your wedding and keeps your cards in one location.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Recycled box (size depends on how many guests are invited)
  • Wrapping paper
  • Colored plastic wrap/film (optional)
  • Ribbon (matching the colors of your wedding)
  • Tape
  • Scissors

    Preparing the Box

  1. Step 1

Gather your materials and select the appropriate size recycled box to use.

  2. Step 2

Cut a hole in the top of the box with scissors. The size of the hole should be large enough for guests to drop a card into easily.

  3. Step 3

Tape the box if necessary. This will help you with the next step of decorating the card box.

  4. Decorating the Card Box

  5. Step 1

Cut the selected wrapping paper to fit the size of the box and begin wrapping (like you would wrap a present). Choose a solid color if you plan to use colored plastic wrap in your decorating.

  6. Step 2

Use scissors to cut the same size hole in the wrapping paper at the top of the box.

  7. Step 3

Cover the wrapped box with the colored plastic wrap or film you have selected and secure with tape.

  8. Step 4

Use the scissors to cut the same size hole in the wrap or film at the top of the box.

  9. Step 5

Cut enough ribbon to cover the circumference of the box, and secure the ribbon with tape around the entire box.

  10. Step 6

Place the bow (handmade or pre-made) wherever you think is appropriate, and fasten with tape.

Tips & Warnings
